Ffair Haf 29.6.07 Summer Fayre

Cafwyd noson lwyddiannus a chartrefol yng ngwmni plant, staff, rhieni a ffrindiau'r ysgol. Mawr ddiolch i bawb a fu'n ymdrechu mor galed i sicrhau Ffair gwerth chweil. Diolch hefyd i'r disgyblion am gynnal stondinau - gweler llun Bl 6 yn socian wrth iddynt godi arian drwy adael i bawb daflu sbynj gwlyb atynt! Gwnaethpwyd £500 o elw!


A successful Summer Fayre was held in the company of children, staff, parents and friends of the school. Many thanks to all who worked so hard to ensure such a great Fayre. Thanks also to the pupils for running their stalls - take a look at the very wet Yr 6 photograph, these brave boys allowed us to throw soaking wet sponges at them to raise money! £500 was raised!

CRICKET SUCCESS
Many congratulations to Matthew Yr 6 on becoming a member of the Wales Junior Cricket Squad – a wonderful achievement and a great honour.
Ysgol Rhoscolyn’s Cricket Team is also proving successful in winning each of their matches to date – we’re bowled over!

Art Attack!
Exciting things are happening in the Infants’ Department with regular visits from local artist Julie Roberts, here she can be seen producing clay pots with the Reception Class.

Wedi Gemau Potes a Thwmpath Dawns, ac wrth gwrs ymweliad a’r siop roedd pawb wedi blino’n lan ac yn barod am eu gwelau. Felly doedd dim amdano ond noswylio yn gynnar …am 2 y bore!

Dechrau da wrth inni wibio o amgylch y cae ar y Ceirt Modur Sgio ar y llethr sych. Roedden ni’n edrych yn cwl!

Pnawn Sadwrn
Gwibgartio yn gyntaf, ond llwyddasom i ‘grasho’ bob tro – roedd hyn gystal sbort a’r weithgaredd ei hun! Yna ymlaen a ni ar y Trampolin Salto, ble roedd gofyn inni blesio’r dorf drwy berfformio bob math o driciau yn yr awyr!
Ar ol hyn, aethom ymlaen i gwblhau’r Cwrs Rhaffau, ble’r oedd gofyn i bawb gydweithio mewn tim yr un mor bwysig ag yr oedd hi i gydbwyso ar yr offer!

Nos Sadwrn
Gwrando ar straeon T Llew Jones yng Nghaer Chwedlau – ble ‘roedd pawb yn berffaith hapus gorwedd ar glustogau moethus o dan goeden dymuniadau plant.
Yna, i ffwrdd a ni ar Helfa Drysor cyn cychwyn ar Daith Gerdded ar hyd yr arfordir gan syllu ar olygfeydd hardd arfordir Cymru.
Wedi dychwelyd i’r gwersyll aethom i’r Disgo am ddawns sydyn cyn cerdded yn flinedig drawn i’n llofftydd a syrthio i gysgu’n syth…

Cychwyn da i’r diwrnod gan nofio yn y pwll ac yna gem pel fasged yn y Neuadd Chwaraeon. Yn dilyn hyn, cafwyd gem bel droed ar yr Astroturf ac yna taith geffylau o amgylch cyrion y gwersyll.

Llangrannog Weekend Diary, June 07

Friday Evening
Various indoor games, folk dancing and a visit to the centre’s shop! Everyone very tired and sleepy so we retired for an early night… at 2am!

Saturday morning
Off to a good start scrambling on Quad bikes, followed by a Skiing lesson on the dry slope. We looked like real dudes!

Saturday afternoon
Tried our luck on the toboggans, but somehow managed to crash during each and every run… which proved hilarious to all! We progressed with some stunts on the Trampolines, managing forward and back-flips to please the crowd!
Straight after we used our co-ordination skills to complete the Rope Course, where team work was just as important as managing to stay balanced!

Saturday evening
Listened to stories at the Folk story Fort where we felt very comfortable lounging on soft cushions under the tree of children’s wishes. We then went on a Treasure Hunt searching for all sorts of clues before embarking on a long walk across the headland looking at the outstanding beauty of Wales’ coastline.
On returning to the centre we danced at the disco before staggering back to our rooms and promptly falling asleep…

Sunday morning
Started the day with a refreshing swim before a game of basketball in the sports pavilion. We then had a game of football on the astroturf, followed by a horseback ride around the camp.
We return to Ysgol Rhoscolyn, tired, happy and content having met old friends and made brand new ones. Many thanks, Llangrannog, for providing memories of a truly fantastic time.

Mawr ddiolch i bawb a fu’n archebu llyfrau darllen newydd yn ein Ffair Lyfrau, a diolch i bawb am noddi’r plant ddarllen! Cafwyd £800 gan Lyfrau Usborne i ychwanegu at lyfrau’r dosbarthiadau yn ogystal a llyfrgell yr ysgol.

Hoffwn ddiolch hefyd i bawb a fu’n gysylltiedig a’r Sioe Ffasiynnau a gynhaliwyd gan y Gymdeithas Rhieni ac Athrawon yn ddiweddar. Dyma lwyddiant ysgubol!


Many thanks to all who bought new reading books at our Book Fair and for sponsoring the children to read! Usborne Books are giving books to the value of £800 to the classrooms and our school library.

May I also take the opportunity to thank everyone involved in the fabuluous PTA Fashion Show, which was such a wonderful success!

A water machine has been installed and we have a supply of bottles for pupils to use within school.
Please support our new healthy lifestyle by providing your child with healthy alternatives in packed lunches and playtime snacks. We are aware that many parents strive to do this already, our aim is to include all parents in the scheme.
Rhandiroedd Allotments
Mawr ddiolch i’r Clwb Garddio am eu gwaith caled yn adeiladu rhandiroedd i’r dosbarthiadau. Cawn ddechrau plannu yr wythnos nesaf!
Many thanks to the Garden Army for their hard work in building allotments for the classrooms. We will start planting next week!
Pel Droed Football

Mae’r cit newydd wedi ein cyrraedd, ac mae’r tim yn falch iawn o’u llwyddiant nos Lun yn erbyn Ysgol Llannerchymedd – 5-2 Sgor arbennig hogiau!


The new kit has arrived, and the team looked the part with a win on Monday night against Llannerchymedd. With a final score of 5-2, we’re proud of you boys!

Ymweliad Visit
Gobeithio fod plant Mrs Jones a Miss Owen yn edrych ymlaen at eu hymweliad i Gastell Penrhyn – ceir mwy o wybodaeth yn fuan!
Mrs Jones and Miss Owen’s class will be looking forward to their forthcoming visit to Penrhyn Castle – many more details to follow!

Dyna benwythnos! Digon o hwyl, digon o fwyd a digon o blant gwlyb – ond dim llawer o gwsg!!!
What a weekend! Plenty of fun, plenty of food and plenty of soaking wet children – but not a great deal of sleep!!!

Swper mawr a dwyawr o ddawnsio llinell – yeeha!
Amser gwely…… am unarddeg, a chysgu am ….awr?!!
A large meal then two hours of non-stop line-dancing – yeeha!
Bed time at eleven…ish….and sleep for…an hour?!!
Dydd Sadwrn a Dydd Sul Saturday and Sunday
Bowlio deg, ceufadu, dringo rhaffau uchel, nofio, dringo, adeiladu rafft a gem o bel droed neu rownderi…heb anghofio’r disgo nos Sadwrn!
Ten pin bowling, kayaking, climbing high ropes, swimming, raft building, climbing and a football match and rounders…not forgetting Saturday night’s disco!
Diolchwn i staff Glan Llyn am benwythnos bendigedig, a diolchwn hefyd iddynt am ddod o hyd i’r pwrs aeth ar goll y diwrnod wedyn yn y gwersyll.
We’re thankful to the staff at Glan Llyn for such a good weekend, and are especially glad that the missing purse was found the next day at the camp! Thanks to our staff for dedicating their weekend!

Edrychaf ymlaen at eich gweld yn y sioe ffasiwn “Handbags a Gladrags” nos Fercher am 6 – a fyddech cystal a dod a’ch plentyn i’r ysgol erbyn 5.30 os gwelwch yn dda – er mwyn i ni eu paratoi ar gyfer y catwalk!!! Fe fydd cyfle i chi archebu ffotograffau o’ch plentyn ar y noson.


The end of term is nearly upon us, and amidst the hustle and bustle of the final week I’d like to share some of our recent activities with you. I would like to thank you for your support and continued co operation this term and wish you a very happy holiday.

I look forward to seeing you at the fashion show, “Handbags and Gladrags” on Wednesday at 6 – please bring your child to school for 5.30 so that we can make the final preparations before launching on the catwalk!!! You will be able to order photographs of your child in costume on the night.

£60 was raised for the NSPCC by coming to school wearing something green – well done everybody!

Garddio Gardening
Mawr ddiolch i’r Clwb Garddio am eu gwaith caled yn adnewyddu’r Garreg Mileniwm – mae Bl 3-6 wedi bod yn brysur ym Mhorth y Garran yn casglu deunyddiau ar gyfer yr ardd glan y mor.
Many thanks to the Garden Army for their hard work refurbishing the Millennium Stone – Yrs 3-6 have been busy collecting driftwood from the beach to decorate the new seaside garden.

Mae llawer wedi digwydd ers ein newyddlen diwethaf – mae’r coed wedi eu plannu yn y gerddi ac mae neuadd yr ysgol wedi ei pheintio. Mae’r toiledau ger dosbarth Mrs Jones wedi eu gweddnewid ac wrth gwrs, mae’r gliniaduron newydd sbon wedi cyrraedd Bl 5 a 6!




A lot has happened since our last newsletter – the hazel trees have been planted in the school gardens and the school hall has been freshly painted. The toilets by Mrs Jones’s room have been transformed, and of course, the new laptops have arrived at Years 5 and 6!

Llongyfarchiadau mawr i Sophie Twiss a Katie McHardy Rowley Bl 6 am ddod yn gyntaf drwy Gymru yng nhgystadleuaeth parau gymnasteg Yr Urdd 2007 yn Aberystwyth. Roedd y perfformiad yn ddisglair ac mae Ysgol Rhoscolyn yn hynod falch o’r tlws arbennig.
Many congratulations to Sophie Twiss and Katie McHardy Rowley Year 6 for coming first throughout the whole of Wales in the Urdd’s gymnastic pairs competition at Aberystwyth. Their performance was flawless and the school is very proud to display the winners’ plaque.
Plannu Coed Tree Planting
Gofynir i blant ddod a’u dillad awyr agored a’u esgidiau glaw Dydd Gwener, Chwefror 16 gan ein body n bwriadu plannu coed yn y gerddi newydd. Mae croeso cynnes i rieni ein helpu i blannu drwy’r dydd – mae angen dipyn o nerth arnom!!!
Pupils are requested to bring outdoor clothing and Wellingtons on Friday, Feb 16 as we will begin planting trees in the new school gardens. Parents are warmly invited to come along for the day to help with the planting – we need muscle power!!!

Welcome back to Rhoscolyn for the new term! I hope that
everyone has had a pleasant and enjoyable break over Christmas.
The children certainly seem pleased to be back, eager to
catch up with their friends and to get back into school routines.

Mae Dosbarth Mrs Jones a Miss Owen yn edrych ymlaen yn arw at ymweliad Colin Diamond o gwmni Dawns i Bawb y tymor yma. Daw’r prosiect mewn partneriaeth rhwng Asiantaeth Gelfyddydol Gwynedd a Mon ag Ysgol Rhoscolyn, a gwahanol elfennau o ddawns i’r plant yn seiliedig ar y mor a’i greaduriaid.


Mrs Jones and Miss Owen’s Classes eagerly await the arrival of Colin Diamond from Dance for All this term to develop their creative dance skills. Funded by a grant from Gwynedd and Mon Arts Agency and Ysgol Rhoscolyn, this promises to be an extravaganza of dance based on the sea and its creatures.

Year 6’s Visit to Danger Point 2007
Canolfan bwrpasol ydi Pentre Peryglon, sy'n cynnig addysg diogelwch ymarferol yn arbennig i blant Blwyddyn 6.
Ymateb arloesol ydi'r Pentre Peryglon i ddamweiniau, anafiadau, troseddau ac ymddygiad gwrthgymdeithasol, sef problemau rydym yn eu gweld ac yn clywed amdanynt bob dydd. Bydd y Pentre Peryglon yn cynnig profiad cyffrous, pleserus a gwerthfawr, lle mae dysgu yn hwyl ac yn hollol ryngweithiol. Datblygwyd Pentre Peryglon gan Heddlu Gogledd Cymru ynghyd â'r asiantaethau allweddol sy'n gyfrifol am ddiogelwch yng Ngogledd Cymru.
DangerPoint is a dedicated centre providing hands-on safety education specifically for Year 6 children. DangerPoint is an innovative response to the problem of accidents, injury, crime and anti-social behaviour which we see and hear about everyday. DangerPoint provides a stimulating, enjoyable and valuable experience, where learning is fun and fully interactive.DangerPoint has been developed by North Wales Police, North Wales Fire and Rescue and BHP Billiton in a unique partnership.

Mae’n argoeli’n dda at Ddydd Gwener, gydag ymweliad Bl 3-6 ag Arddangosfa’r Byd a’r Tate yn Lerpwl. Gobeithio na fydd yr ymadawiad cynnar yn creu unrhyw anhwylustod!
Diolchwn i Gymdeithas Athrawon a Rhieni am noddi’r ymweliad.
It promises to be a packed day of activities on Friday for Year 3-6, with a visit to the World Museum and Tate Liverpool. Let’s hope the early start makes everyone wide-eyed and bushy tailed! Many thanks to the PTA’s Christmas Fair for funding the visit.

Edrychwn ymlaen yn eiddgar at ymweliad arall gan Techniquest ar y 25ain o’r mis, ble y byddant yn trafod gwyddoniaeth mewn ffordd ymarferol a hawdd i’w ddeall. Bydd gweithdai i’r adran Iau a Sioe Deganau i’r Babanod.

We look forwards in anticipation to another Techniquest visit on the 25th of this month, where they demonstrate scientific theories in a practical and easy to understand way.
Workshops will be held for the juniors and a Toy Show for the infants.

Toybox on the road [Anglesey, Conwy, Gwynedd]
“Children in North West Wales are learning how their toys work thanks to a new programme from Techniquest, Llanberis.
Science from the Toybox is a presentation and workshop visiting primary schools in Gwynedd, Conwy and Anglesey. Younger children can guess what is making their toys move. Junior pupils will use the toys to learn about how electricity flows, explore magnets, and discover the forces behind an air powered car. More than twenty headteachers have already booked to bring the Toybox to their schools.” Techniquest, Llanberis

Last week we have enjoyed some fabulous entertainment from
our pupils and look forward to the Christmas Disco on Wednesday. Last Friday was Christmas Lunch, and this Friday we look forward to the Christmas holiday to round the term off! So we are busy, and increasingly festive!

I would like to take this opportunity to thank everyone
for their encouragement and support this term. Much has
been achieved and the holiday will be richly deserved. I wish
all Rhoscolyn families a very Happy Christmas.

Garddio Gardening

Blue Peter Appeal 2006
Mawr ddiolch i’r holl blant ddaeth i’r ysgol yn gwisgo esgidiau digri, fe gasglwyd £77 tuag at Elusen Blue Peter.

HI was surfing the net as they say. And found you website. I just wanted to say that I think its great. I used to go to your school and think that the school has moved on so much since i was there (i left in 1994 so its some time ago, you will think more than likely remember my brother better Ben Morgan). I also would like to say thankyou to all off the staff that made the summer BBQ with mr Hayhoe so much fun. It was good to see so many old faces.well i'm now living in lancaster studying to become a Occupational therapists on a postgraduate course. Years 5&6 hope to put on another (smaller scale!) show during this academic year, so keep a lookout for more cardboard Mr Griffiths! I can't believe how much the school has changed, but it looks lovely!! I left in 2001 and I have so many happy memories! I miss the school and especially Miss Williams and you lot. living in Spain is really good and i can speak fluent Spanish! , I'm hoping to come back and visit Rhoscolyn School someday! xx

Teacher Training: Please note that Friday, 24th November is a training day therefore the school is closed to pupils.
Whilst enjoying the long weekend spare a thought for the staff who will be working hard!
Cars and Parking: We continue to work hard to manage the morning and afternoon rush, and appreciate parents’ efforts in not parking on the yellow lines outside school.
Welsh Lessons for Parents: Congratulations to those learning Welsh on Tuesdays and best wishes for the remainder of the course!
National Anti-Bullying Week
20th-24th November
This week, Ysgol Rhoscolyn pupils will be focusing on
‘Anti –Bullying’ in line with the National Campaign. Pupils will be designing posters to highlight the week . In PSHE, lessons have already introduced the topic and further activities will re-enforce the harmful effects of bullying and how to deal with it.
Rhoscolyn stands against bullying in two ways:
By sustaining a general ethos that discourages bullying by providing positive alternatives and encourages the children to discuss the issues concerned in an open manner.
By having clear procedures, understood by children, staff and parents that are followed when bullying is reported.
We seek to be a listening community. If you have any concerns regarding your child (or others) please do let us know so we can act to create an evermore secure and happy environment in which to learn and grow.
The school has invested in friendly puppets to aid PSHE lessons. They’re our firm friends already!

Yn ddiweddar cafwyd perfformiad gwych o “George and the Dragon”gan y West Midlands
Touring Theatre.
The school and playgroup recently enjoyed a great performance of George and the Dragon by the West Midlands Touring Theatre Company – oh yes they did!!!!
